FCN Fantasy Sports RPG Leagues
Several elements make up FCN Fanasy Sports RPG leagues and set them apart from all other fantasy leagues:
Owners and Ownership
When you buy an FCN fantasy team, you become an Owner. As an Owner, you not only make the decisions regarding your franchise, but you now possess that franchise as an asset. FCN Franchises can be bought and sold much like in the real world. If you choose to sell a team, you may do so via the FCN Marketplace. If you find a buyer, and if the sale is approved at an amount that represents a net gain for you over the money you have spent on the franchise and the sale, then you can realize a profit in this fashion. If you build up a franchise into a powerhouse over several years and decide at some point that it behooves you to sell the franchise, you may be paid handsomely, depending on what others are willing to pay. Of course, you may simply want to hold on to the franchise and build it into an enduring dynasty!
As part of your initial franchise package, you will be assigned a Yahoo! ID for your franchise, and upon logging into Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball with that ID, you will find that your team, with the team name you selected at signup, will be there waiting for you.
Teams/Franchises

Once selected, team names cannot be changed without approval from FCN. Once created, Franchise names, logos, etc., are used to create merchandise. The Owner of a Franchise receives earnings when that merchandise is sold. The Owner gets to select five Licensed Swag Items that will be sold. Additional LIs can be bought for a fee. One of each LI will be sent to the Cheerleaders and Boosters in your Marketing Department automatically to be used in promotions.
Players
Players are given contracts conferred by establishing keeper status, i.e., a five-year contract is a player designated a five-year keeper.
To sign a player to a contract, an owner must pay the player’s salary x the number of years they are signing them for + 10%. The rational advantage of signing a player for a number of years, then, is to prevent other players from getting him the following season, or to prevent yourself from being required to pay much more in the future to get him because you believe his value will rise more than that 10% premium. It is for this that you are paying the premium.
Initially, each team is allotted a contract cap based on a pyramid system. These are the maximum initial allotments of each length of contract:
- One six-year deal
- Two five-years
- Three four-years
- Four three-years
- Owners can sign as many two- and one-year deals as they like
The Business Side
Owners manage more than their franchise’s game-side decisions. There are marketing, stadium, and other issues to take into account too for the full ownership experience.
- Cheerleaders
- FCN Cheerleaders are real spokespeople for your Franchise. When your Franchise hires a Cheerleader, she may promote your Franchise page, which will contain your Sponsor links, the world in ways which will usually be posted in her profile. Cheerleaders promote by various methods, like creating videos, posting to social networks, and even live at FCN live events. You may send her various LSIs to enhance her promotional ability.
- Hiring Cheerleaders and arming them with LSIs grants you various in-game bonuses
- Boosters:
- Like Cheerleaders, FCN Boosters but their methods differ.
- Team Logos:
- Teams can select from hundreds of different logos or design their own! These logos and design elements will be used to create real-life merchandise for your team and will adorn your profile.
- Stadiums:
- You can select from many styles of virtual stadiums to pick the one that really fits your team concept. These will also give you bonuses that can help you earn more cash!
- Sponsors:
- Acquiring a Sponsor generates Franchise Revenue, allowing you to succeed even if your team is struggling!
- Perks, Awards, Badges
- Modifier Perks are advantages gained by Owners through different means
- Awards are achieved through different actions plus performance
- “Cred-Abilities” (“Creds”) are achieved through actions, generally buying something with real cash (Cheerleaders, Boosters, etc.)
- Milestones are achieved through performance, generally related to gameplay
- Some perks are permanent, some are periodic, some are one-time
